Ambassador Martins N. Cobham, Ambassador of Nigeria in Venezuela meets with Mr. Carlos Osorio, Venezuelan Minister of Transport.
Ambassador Martins N. Cobham, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Venezuela met with Mr. Carlos Osorio, Minister of Transport of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Friday, 20th April, 2018.
The meeting held at the behest of Ambassador Cobham was to convey to the honourable Minister, the intentions and willingness of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to cooperate and collaborate in areas of mutual interest to both Nigeria and Venezuela.
While noting the vast resource endowment of Venezuela adding to its advances in the area of infrastructure, Ambassador Cobham disclosed that Nigeria was hoping to share in the expertise of Venezuela and learn from its experiences in fortification of infrastructure. He emphasized that against the backdrop of the recent visit of the Mr. Jorge Arreaza, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, to Nigeria to sign two Memoranda of Understanding, it had become imperative to sustain the momentum and escalate possible partnership in other areas of mutual interest to the two friendly nations. He stressed the need for meetings of Technical Committees to commence in earnest.
Minister Carlos underscored the importance of alliances with friendly nations in order to drive the efforts of President Nicolas Maduro to revive the economy of Venezuela that had been under attack by external and internal forces. He noted that to ensure the success of these joint efforts, the technicians working for the National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) and from the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA), among other institutions connected to the Ministry of People’s Power for Transport would participate at the technical meetings.
